Drumkeeran GAA Celebrates

Awards Presented at Special Function

On Saturday, February 22, Drumkeeran GAA Club held a special dinner dance

to celebrate the club’s achievements during 2013.

Among the guests for this special occasion,
which was held in The Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon,
was none other than Sam Maguire!

Club Chairperson, John McPartlan, welcomed everyone
and spoke of the Club’s achievements during 2013.

In congratulating the Ladies Junior County Champions and League Champions,
he highlighted in particular the achievement of Anne Marie Gallagher,
who was awarded the Leitrim County Ladies Junior Player of the Year.

John also spoke of the great achievement of the men’s team
in winning the Leitrim U-21 Championship

The Special Guest for the Evening

Thanks to Sean Flynn (right of photo), Sam Maguire made a special appearance for the occasion.

Also in the photo are two Drumkeeran folks who,
because of a certain driving test,
won worldwide notoriety over the past few weeks.

In the centre of the photo are Felim McHugh and his father, Peter Noel McHugh.

Felim is holding the now famous driving license.

To the left of the photo is Felim’s brother, Patrick.

In his words, Club Chairperson, John McPartlan, thanked all those who
coached and trained the various teams over the past year,
and all those who turned out to support the teams.

He also appealed for more people to give of their time and energy
to the ongoing process of building up the club.

About 200 people attended the function

And all had a very enjoyable and pleasant evening.
