Recent Local Deaths


    Patrick Curnan, Sheena, whose funeral took place on Sat 3 May in St Brigid’s Church, Drumkeeran.


    Hugh McPartlan, Radharc An t'Seipeal, Drumkeerin who died on Fri 18 April, whose funeral took place on Sunday, 11th May in St Brigid’s Church Drumkeeran.


Martin Brolly, Sheena, his funeral took place in St. Aidan's Church, Ballaghameehan on Saturday, 12th April, followed by interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Garrison.


Annie McMorrow, née Stankard, late of Glassdrummond Mór, Drumkeerin, Co.Leitrim and formerly of Shivdillagh, Drumkeerin and Omagh, Co. Tyrone, peacefully on Saturday, 15th March, 2025, in her 87th year, surrounded by her devoted family. Annie’s funeral took place on Wednesday, 19th March in St Brigid’s Church, Creevelea with burial after in Drumkeeran Cemetery.


John McTeigue, Corry, Drumkeerin, Co. Leitrim, peacefully at home, on Sunday, 29th December 2024, surrounded by his loving family. John’s Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, 1st January 2025 at St.Colmcilles Church, Newbridge followed by burial in Newbridge Old Cemetery.


Christine (Chris) McKenna, nee Murphy, Sheena, Drumkeerin, Co.Leitrim, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Chris died on Wednesday, 11th September and was buried in Drumkeeran Cemetery on Friday, 13th September.


Pauline O'Connor, Arus Breffni, Manorhamilton and formerly of College View, Drumkeerin and Lisalooey, Drumkeerin, Co.Leitrim. Pauline died on Sunday, 8th September and was buried in Drumkeeran Cemetery on Wednesday, 11th September.


Micheal Sweeney, Townahoney, Tawneylea, Drumkeerin, Co.Leitrim. Pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Margaret and brother in law Eamon. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his brother Jimmy, sister Maureen, nephew Patrick, niece Mairead, aunt Kay Horan, cousins, relatives and friends.

Micheal’s burial took place on Drumkeeran cemetery on Sunday, 1st September.


Elizabeth (Lilly) McMorrow (née Lenehan) Sheena, Drumkeeran. Lilly died on Saturday, 10th August 2024, Pre-deceased by her husband Paddy, son-in-law Christopher and her brothers and sisters. Lilly passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her devoted family.

    John Loughlin, Newbridge, Dowra, whose funeral took place on Fri 2 May in St. Colmcille’s Church, Newbridge with burial in Drumkeerin Cemetery afterwards.


Fr Eamonn Bredin, former parish priest of Inishmagrath from 1999-2005 who has died. His funeral arrangements will follow


Peter McHugh, Longford, brother of Thomas McHugh. Peter’s funeral took place on Saturday, 15th March in St Mel’s Cathedral.


Brian Normoyle, nephew of the late Kathleen Harrison, Brian died in New York and his funeral took place on Saturday, 8th March 2025.


Eileen Woods (née McGowan), Towneycorry, Lough Allen, Co Leitrim and formerly of Corderry, Killargue, Co Leitrim, Dungiven, Derry. Peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, 8th February 2025.


Liam Maye Snr, Carrowgilpatrick, Beltra, Sligo. Liam died peacefully at Sligo University Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, 21st December. Brother of Mona Travers.


Joe Ganley (Retired Army 19th Battalion and Civil Defence), formerly of Attyfinlay, Carrick on Shannon, father of Catherine Clancy; Joe died suddenly on Sunday, 1st December and his funeral took place on Friday, 6th December at St Mary’s Church, Carrick on Shannnon.


Mary Ellen Kelleher (née Flynn) formerly of Greaghnaslieve who passed away on Wednesday, 6th November 2024 in New York, USA, aged 104 years old.


James Barlow, USA, nephew of Kathleen Harrison, whose funeral took place on Sunday, 6th Ocotber 2024.


Michael Flanagan, Bridgecartron, Ballyfarnon, Co.Roscommon and formerly of Shass, Dowra, Co.Leitrim, at Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael’s burial took place in Drumkeeran Cemetery on Saturday, 31st August.


Fiona Reynolds, née Burke, Derrygirraun, Cootehall, Boyle, Co. Roscommon. Ex Principal, Tarmon N.S. Drumkeerin, Co. Leitrim. Friday, 2nd August 2024, peacefully in the tender care of the staff at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Dublin and surrounded by her devoted husband and family. Pre-deceased by her beloved mother Martina (Tina). Fiona will be sadly missed by her loving husband Brian, daughters Niamh and Anna, son Mark, father John, sisters Eithne, Úna and Áine brother Martin, aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Finoa’s funeral was in St. Patrick’s Church, Crossna on Monday, 5th August.


Rose Keane, formerly McDonagh, nee Meehan, Cairns Road, Sligo and formerly Main St, Drumkeerin and Dromahair, peacefully following a long life lived to the full. Rose’s

Requiem Mass took place at St. John's Church, Carraroe, Co. Sligo on Tuesday, 23rd July, followed by burial at St. Bridget's Church Cemetery, Drumkeeran.


Paul McPadden of Drumshanbo and Selton, Drumkeeran, brother to the late John. Paul’s funeral took place on Friday, 22 March 2024


John McPadden of Selton and Wetherby, England who died recently - funeral will be in Drumkeeran once arrangements have been made.


Teresa (Tess) McCabe née McHugh of Virginia and formerly of Drumkeeran, who died recently in her 95th year.
