The funeral of Frank Sweeney, Acton, London,

and formerly of Geaglom,

took place in Drumkeeran on Sunday, February 9.


Frank had died in London on January 27 after a long illness.

Born in Geaglom in 1945, the son of Catherine and Bartley,
Frank was one of a family of eight.

He went to London in the early 1960’s.
and settled in Acton.

He worked as a skilled tradesman, doing carpentry work, painting etc.

He never lost his love for his family nor for his homeland.

He was a very sociable man, who enjoyed the occasional flutter on the horses
and he was also a fine darts player with many trophies to his name.

He is survived by his sisters Kathleen (London) and Helen (Drumsna),
and his brother James (London)

Frank was predeceased by his sisters Mary, Bridie and Ann,
and by his brother John.

After the Requiem Mass,in St Brigid’s Church, Drumkeeran,
Frank’s ashes were laid to rest in the Sweeney family plot
in Drumkeeran Cemetery.
