Bishop Leo O’Reilly, Bishop Colm O’Reilly, Fr Francis Duffy and the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Brown

Fr Francis Duffy, a priest of the diocese of Kilmore,
has been appointed bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise.

He succeeds Bishop Colm O’Reilly, who has retired.

Fr Francis is a native of Templeport, Co Cavan.

He studied at St Patrick’s College, Cavan, and at St Patrick’s College, Maynooth.

He was ordained in 1982
and was appointed to the teaching staff of St Patrick’s College, Cavan, in 1983.
In 1996 he was appointed Principal of Fatima and Felim’s Secondary School in Ballinamore,
a position he held until 2008, when he became Chancellor and Diocesan Secretary.

In recent years he has served in the parish of Laragh, Co Cavan.

We congratulate Fr Francis on his appointment
and we assure him of our support and our prayers.
