Creevelea NS Celebrates

The pupils, teachers, parents, past-pupils and friend of Creevelea National School
held a celebratory party on Saturday, 25
th May.

They gathered to celebrate the fact that the school will remain open for the foreseeable future.
At the end of 2012 there was a very real danger that the school might be forced to close
if the teaching staff was reduced to just one teacher.

In March 2013 Bishop Leo O’Reilly, the patron of the school,
announced that the school would be allowed remain open.

A large crowd of local people attended the party, which consisted of games for the children, face-painting, music, arts & crafts and a barbeque.

Former Principal of the school, Rena Fallon, speaking to the guests.
In the back background, Tommy Drugan and Bridget Gallagher, both of whom are past-pupils.

Thankfully the weather held up for the party
and everyone really the occasion.

We wish the school and its principal, Mary Dolan, well
in the drive to attract more pupils to the school
so as to ensure the appointment of a second full-time teacher.

We congratulate and thank all those who were involved in planning
and organising this celebratory party.
