Priests On the Move

Two priests from our local deanery, Fr John McMahon and Fr Sean Mawn,

are on the move as part of the diocesan changes for 2013.

Fr John McMahon will be known to the people of Inishmagrath
as he was one of the team of volunteer priests that helped
with penitential services in the parish.
Originally from Lavey, Co Cavan,
Fr John has served as a curate in Manorhamilton for the past seven years.
Fr John has been appointed as Parish Priest of Knockbride,
a rural parish between the towns of Cootehill and Bailieboro.

Fr Sean Mawn, a native of Glenfarne, is well known to the people of Inishmagrath,
as he began his priestly ministry when he was appointed curate in Creevelea in 1978.
He spent five years there before being transferred to London.
For the past four years he has served as Parish Priest in Ballinaglera.
He has now been appointed as Parish Priest of Ballinamore.

The out-going PP of Ballinamore, Fr Charles Heery,
was a curate in Creevelea from 1966 to 1968.
He now moves as curate to Belturbet.

Former Parish priest of Drumkeeran, Fr Eamonn Bredin,
is moving from Arva, Co Cavan to Cavan town,
from where he will serve as an assisting priest
or a number of mid-Co Cavan parishes.

The new appointments take effect on 31st August.

We wish all these priests every blessing in their new ministries.
