Fr Eddie Burns RIP
The death has taken place of Fr Eddie Burns.
Fr Eddie served as a curate in Creevelea from 1957 to 1962.
Born in 1931 in Coraneary, Killeshandra,
Fr Eddie was ordained in St Patrick’s College,
Maynooth, in 1956.
After serving in Birmingham for a year he was appointed to Creevelea in 1957.
In 1962 he was transferred to Killinkere and was moved to Cootehill in 1978.
In 1987 he was appointed Parish Priest of Denn.
He stepped down to become curate in Maudabawn in 2003,
a position he held until he
retired in 2011.
