John McKenna Traditional Festival

2013

This year’s John McKenna Traditional Festival
has been blessed with absolutely wonderful weather,
with with everybody enjoying the constant sunshine over the full weekend of the Festival.

There was a large crowd in attendance at the Festival Concert
in the Community Centre on Friday evening, June 7.
Martin Connelly and Eileen O’Brien gave a wonderful duet performance on fiddle,
accompanied by pianist and whistle player, Geraldine Cotter.

On Saturday morning there were the workshops
in which more experienced and skilful musicians gave classes
in playing various traditional instruments to the younger musicians.

Later Saturday afternoon there were a number of sessions
in various locations around the town.

Later Saturday evening, between 9.00 pm and 11.00 pm
a “Crossroads Dance” was held on The Square.
