Mary Rogan RIP

The death has taken place of Mary Rogan,
Corralustia, Drumkeeran.

Mary, who was 92, died in Sligo General Hospital on Thursday, 12th September.

With Mary’s death her family and our community has lost a lovely, kind and sincere woman.

Her life centred around her dedication to her family,
her hard work on the farm
and her kindness to her neighbours.

Her household was always noted for the hospitality and for the warmth of the welcome.
There was also the cup of tea and Mary’s lovely baking.

In difficult economic times she and her late husband John
had to work hard on the family farm to provide for their family.
They had three children, Maura, John Joe and Gerard.
Sadly, Mary’s husband John died in 1986.

Mary was a quiet and relaxed lady.
She had a warm smile and a gentle sense of fun and laughter.
It was these qualities that made it such a pleasure
for any visitor to call to her home.

Mary’s hospitality and goodness were rooted
in her prayer life and in her deep sense of faith.

In recent times Mary had to move from her home on Corralustia
to take up residence Aras Bhreifne, Manorhamilton,
where she spent the last few months of her life.

We extend our sympathy to her family
and to her neighbours and friends.

Mary’s funeral took place on Saturday, 14th September.
Fr Vincent Connaughton, PP Killenummery,
celebrated the funeral Mass in Drumkeeran Church.

Mary was laid to rest in the family plot in Aughaloughy Cemetery.
