Storm Damage to the Roof of

Drumkeeran Church

The severe storms that pounded the north west coast of Ireland

in the early hours of Thursday, 15 January,

caused major damage to the roof of Drumkeeran Church.

While the church itself remained open,

the church car park had been closed

until repair work was completed.

By coincidence, Fr Alwill had recently spoken to parishioners
about the poor condition of the roof
and about the need for a re-roofing project.

This photograph shows the extent of the damage.

Looking up from the sanctuary of the church,

the daylight can be clearly seen coming through the ceiling boards.

A local roofing contractor has been instructed to carry out immediate repairs

and the work was completed by Saturday morning, 24 January.
