Declaration

Civil Impediment

You are required to make a declaration
that you know of no reason in civil law
why you and your partner cannot be married.

At your meeting with the Registrar
you will be asked to sign such a declaration.

Not more than 2 days before the wedding
the priest must ask you to make a verbal
declaration of no civil impediment.

In this parish the couple makes the declaration
at the beginning of the wedding,
when they arrive at the altar.
