Drumkeeran Town in 1901
Church Street
Farmer:
Two people were described as farmers or farm labourers.
They were Thomas Buchanan (58) and John Buchanan (41).
Thomas was married to Anna (52) who was born in Co Sligo.
Their sons Tomas (29) and James (14) and their daughters Bette (22) and
Anna (17) lived with them. John was
married to Margaret Jane (31) and that had a daughter Ellin Kate (4).
Shoemaker/Bootmaker:
John Crown (50). John was married to Mary (50) and they had three sons, Francis
(15), Patrick (15) and Thomas (10).
Hugh
McPadden (44) was described as a bootmaker.
His wife was Ellen (42) and they had six children; Peter (15), Lizzie
(13), Bridget (12), Patrick (10), Ellen 97) and Margaret (5)
Michael
Quinn (40) was another bootmaker. His
brother Patrick (37) lived with him and was a harness maker.
Police:
The RIC barracks was on
Church St
. The following were constables
named as the constables attached to the barracks.
Sgt William Taylor (37), Sgt John McLoughlin (36) from Co Fermanagh,
Constable Edward Mille (45), Constable Peter Mulligan (34) from Co Westmeath, and
Constable Thomas Murphy from Co Cavan.
Sgt
William Taylor lived in a private house with his wife Mary Ellen (31) and their
son William (4).
Constable
Edward Miller lived in a private house on
Main St
.

Francis Brennan (38) is described as a “RC clergyman”.
Blacksmith:
John Corcoran (50) was described as a “shoeing smith”.
His wife was Susan (40).

John Doyle (70). His wife was Anne

Clothes dealer: Patrick Gorman (34). His
wife was Mary (34) and they had a daughter Bridget (7).
Post Car Proprietor: Henry
McDonagh (26)
Retired Grocer: Thomas McKim (80).
Widow: Catherine Flynn (70), a
widow, worked in the RIC Barracks.
Car Driver: Joseph Rinn (37), who was a
boarder in the house of baker John Doyle.
Mail Car Driver: Michael
McDonagh (18), lived with his brother Henry, the post car propriertor.
Harness Maker: Patrick Quinn (37) lived
with his brother Michael who was a bootmaker.
